Text description provided by the architects. The FoShan ZhaoYang O³ building is located in the heart of Foshan, a world-renowned city in Guangdong, South China. The building is in the form of a huge green QR code, and is expected to bring new life and creative spaces to Foshan in a design intended to combine modern and traditional architecture.
The environmental background
Burgeoning urbanization brings both opportunities and challenges. We have therefore made it our primary mission to optimize the surroundings of the old renewal project as well as incorporate innovative designs to improve public access to service facilities, by utilizing green and ecologically friendly architecture. Our intention is to create a micro-complex with an environment which we believe will appeal to the young and minimalist lifestyle. We hope to cultivate a better quality of life for the nearby residents, and in doing so boost commerce in nearby areas.
The design theory
FoShan ZhaoYang O³ building is located at the junction of Chaoan road and Tongji East Road in Chancheng District. surrounding buildings are mostly residences and factories. Considering there are less high-rise buildings in this area, we decide to lower the building height and emphasize its iconic significance with two 160-meters height towers.
To ensure that each unit can enjoy the best view, we make the opposite building plane as small as possible, and keep it in line with the triangular foundation. Simultaneously, “creating more diversified and multifunctional interface “ is our main idea to design open-air commercial street allowing users enjoy the green scenery and pleasant sunshine while shopping.
The 18F-19F are created for the sky garden and corridor, which connects the two towers from the sky. People can wander the building and enjoy abundant and multilayered space.
Aluminum perforated screens filter the light, similar to the “ QR-code.” The blue pattern is inspired by tree shadows, while the tones of the surrounding trees are echoed in the colors of the aluminum facade.
We hope that FoShan ZhaoYang O³ building not only bring convenience for the people but also help regional economic development, and become a iconic modern building of FoShan.
